Agriculture still is mostly directly influenced by the climate factors; the budgetary subsidies for supporting the irrigation system didn't manage to totally compensate the influence of these factors.

The structure of agricultural goods and services production, in 2005, was: crop production 59% of total; animal production 40%; agricultural services 1%.

In 2005 comparatively with 2001 the crop production increased by 62.7% for sunflower, by 2.5% for cereal grains, by 21.7% for fruits. Also, were recorded, in 2005 faced to 2001, a decrease by 54.9 for grapes, by 31.7 for barley, 6.5 for potatoes and 5.8 for vegetables.

The latest data and information regarding the sowing surfaces in the spring of 2006*) (middle of May, 2006) show that the stage of the cultivated area programme for different crops, such as: flax for oil is two times higher than the initial agenda, spring rape by +72.1%, early and summer potatoes by +5.1%.

Also, due to the bad weather there are some delay compared with the outline for: soybean (by -29.3%), been (by -27.0%), spring two-row barley (by -22.2%), maize and sorghum (by -21.6%), fodder crops (by -20.2%).

    Animal production

The animal production recorded a positive evolution, as a direct consequence of the subsidies received by the farmers, which revival the sector and assure the basis for its development; it could be mentioned the enhance of the number of pigs (by 48.9% in 2005 faced to 2001), sheep and goats (by 6.7%) and of cattle (by 2.2%). In direct correlation with the stockbreeding in 2005, comparatively with 2001, increased the production of meat (by 6.5%), eggs (by 21.8%) and of milk (by 14.0%). Also, were recorded, an increase of the extracted honey (by 40.5%).


1) Provisional data

The positive evolution of the stockbreeding continued. After the first three months of 2006 the number of animals slaughtered was: 183 thousand heads for cattle; 636 thousand heads for pigs; 469 thousand heads for sheep and goats; 33994 thousand heads for poultries. Also, in March 2006 compared with similar month from 2005, was recorded a decrease of the meat production for cattle (by 20%), sheep and goats (by 46.4%) and an increase for poultry was recorded (by 5.8%); in the same period the pigs' meat production was constancy.

    SYLVICULTURE

Sylviculture still is mostly directly influenced by the human activity factors; this domain has a strong and long influence with the environment.

In 2004 the forest land represents 6382 thousand hectares. The forest land recorded a low increase (+0.3% in 2004 faced to 2000).

The structure of the forest land was: 31.3%% of total beech; 29.0% conifers; 17.2% oak; 22.5% various species and other lands for forest use.

The afforestation works was carry out on 14,140 hectares, main of them with plantations (96.5% of total).

The cutting wood area in 2004 was 82,247 hectares. In 2004 compared with 2000 the cutting area increased by 1.5 times and them was in wood (81.6%). The volume of wood harvested was 17082 thousand cubic metres. In 2004 compared with 2000 the volume of wood harvested increased by 1.2 times. The most important volume of wood harvested was conifers (37.2%) and beech (31.7%).

The volume of wood exploited by economic operators specialized was 13.324 thousand cubic metres; it represents 78.0% of the total harvested wood volume. The tendency of this indicator was a positive one; in 2004 compared with 2002 it increased with 10.6%.
