Investment Protection under International Agreements

Romania has entered over 70 international agreements for avoidance of double taxation (see Annex 2 for a list of double taxation agreements). Tax rates may be lower under double taxation treaties concluded by Romania with the state the foreign investor has its registered office, based on a certificate of fiscal residency.
International agreements related to international trade.
Romania is a member of WTO and a party to the WTO Agreement on Trade -Related Investment Measures. Romania has also concluded trade agreements with EFTA and CEFTA countries, as well as with Israel, Turkey and a number of South-East European countries.
Bilateral Agreements for Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.
Romania is, since 1975, a party to the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of other States. Romania has concluded over 80 bilateral investment treaties (see Annex 1 for a list of bilateral investment treaties) and accepted the jurisdiction of international arbitration tribunals for the settlement of investment disputes.
